Tom Johnson's Recipes

Aside from my  interest in computers, gizmos, gadgets and technical toys, I love to cook. I'll venture anything that sounds delicious, but I have a real fondness for breakfast recipes. Among the all time most requested recipes are my "Gingerbread Pancakes with Lemon Sauce" and "Piña Colada Waffles with Rum Buttermilk Syrup". I view written recipes as a good starting point and then get creative.

I often find myself sitting and waiting for the troubled computer to finish some process, Since I am unlike most "geeks", I can actually talk to normal people and love to get to know the people I am working with, while waiting. It is not unusual for the subject of food to come up while I am doing that and am constantly asked if I will share my recipes.

The recipes below are the end result of that creative approach to cooking and I've recorded them to share with others.

The recipes below are links to a web page with the recipe> The "Printable Version" link on that web page links to a PDF file that you can download, save print, etc. Feel free to download and share with your friends. Check back periodically because at this point, I don't have the full collection added to the library here and I am pretty sure I will run across something new that I can embellish. I never stop looking.
  • Gingerbread Pancakes with Lemon Sauce
These pancakes have a truly unique flavor and cook up light and fluffy. Ad the warm lemon sauce and they will absolutely melt in your mouth. A favorite for weekend brunches and one of the most frequent requests from my family.
  • Piña Colada Waffles with Rum Buttermilk Syrup
When I first discovered buttermilk Syrup I thought I had died and gone to heaven. It's thick and frothy and almost feels like you're putting frosting on your waffles. Yes, it's very rich but something everyone should try at least once. I got this wild idea to put pineapple and coconut in my buttermilk waffle recipe and rum in the buttermilk syrup. It has been a big hit ever since.
  • Sour Cream Chocolate Waffles with Buttermilk Syrup
Almost everyone loves chocolate and to combine these chocolate waffles with this rich and delicious buttermilk syrup is amazing.
  • Breakfast Bread Pudding
A delightful twist on Bread Pudding that makes this a perfect breakfast or brunch dish. It has a  rich custard flavor with loads of cream cheese and maple syrup.
  • Potato Pancakes with Peach Syrup
My private recipe for a simple and delicious variation on the more well known potato pancakes. These are suitable as an entrée, as opposed to the side dish role of regular style. Serve with a layer of cottage cheese topped with the pe ach syrup.
  • Creamed Eggs on Waffles
The parmesan cheese and chopped hard-boiled eggs make this a rich and flavorful sauce to go over waffles and is a delightful entre for any breakfast or brunch.
  • Kickin' White Chicken Chili
This is an amazingly robust white chicken chili recipe. This chili bites back.

Tom's Technical Side

While I am not cooking up new recipes, I spend my days helping people with technology challenges with their PC's, Mac's, SmartPhones or other tech toys. I get very frustrated with the "geeks" of the world who think it's cool to use a lot of technical jargon because they think it makes them look smart. There are technical terms I can't avoid but I do avoid them when I can. I like to keep things in plain English so people can feel comfortable about what we do.

I love to be creative when I am cooking and find that comes in handy when finding solutions to computer problems, as well.
